This planner is a browser tool for making redraw references. Final in-game results still depend on the Drawing Board canvas and item base you choose.

Quick Answer

You can use the pixel planner on this page to prepare a redraw reference, then use Heartopia's in-game Drawing Board to recreate or adjust the design. Apply finished designs with the correct consumable.

How to Unlock the Drawing Board

  1. 1Reach D.G. Member Level 14.
  2. 2Visit Dorothee at the Clothing Store.
  3. 3Start Jean Morin's Letter.
  4. 4Follow the quest to Ka Ching.
  5. 5Buy the Drawing Board for 2,000 Gold and place it in your home.

Painting Tools and Consumables

Tool Cost / Source Use Important Note
Drawing Board 2,000 Gold from Ka Ching Create paintings, item bases, and custom designs. Place it on the ground before trying to open the Gallery.
Paint Can 50 Moonlight Crystals Apply custom designs to compatible furniture. Not every furniture piece accepts custom patterns.
Tailoring Ticket 80 Moonlight Crystals Apply designs to compatible clothing item bases. Practice on standard canvas before spending crystals.
Dye 100 Gold or blue bubbles Change basic furniture colors. Dyeing is different from applying a custom pattern.

Custom Clothing Workflow

  1. 1. Make the design: Open the Drawing Board and choose a clothing item base.
  2. 2. Keep the design readable: Use bold shapes and simple contrast so it survives the small in-game preview.
  3. 3. Apply with a Ticket: Use a Tailoring Ticket on compatible clothing.
  4. 4. Save a clean version: Keep a copy before recoloring or adding heavy details.

Custom Furniture Workflow

  1. 1. Finish Brushstroke Whimsy: This opens the path toward painted furniture.
  2. 2. Check compatibility: Wooden or joinery-style furniture is the safest target.
  3. 3. Use a Paint Can: Apply the saved design through the furniture customization flow.
  4. 4. Match the room: Repeat a color or motif from your walls, rug, or main decor set.

Can You Share Clothing and Furniture Designs?

Heartopia design sharing depends on the Gallery options available in your current version. When direct Gallery sharing is available, use it for the cleanest transfer. When it is not available, share a screenshot or pixel reference from this page so another player can redraw it on their Drawing Board.

Design Type Best Way to Share What the Other Player Needs
Clothing designs Gallery entry if available, or a clean pixel reference / screenshot. Drawing Board access, compatible clothing, and a Tailoring Ticket.
Furniture designs Share the design reference, then apply it to a matching furniture item. A compatible furniture piece and a Paint Can.
Pixel painting ideas Use the planner above to make a small, readable PNG reference. A simple color palette and enough canvas space on the Drawing Board.

Which Tool Should You Use?

I want to draw

Use the Drawing Board. This is where the design is created.

I want custom clothes

Use a clothing item base, then spend a Tailoring Ticket.

I want custom furniture

Use a saved design and apply it with a Paint Can.

Drawing Pad Not Working: Fix Checklist

If you are searching for "why my drawing pad doesn't work with Heartopia", the first thing to check is the item name: most players mean the Drawing Board. Work through these checks before spending more Paint Cans or Tailoring Tickets.

Board is not unlocked

Reach D.G. Level 14, visit Dorothee, start Jean Morin's Letter, then follow the quest toward Ka Ching.

Board is still in inventory

Place the Drawing Board in your home first. The Gallery and painting menu open from the placed item, not from the bag icon.

Wrong interaction spot

Move nearby furniture, rotate the board, and stand directly in front of it so the interaction prompt can appear.

Gallery does not load

Reopen the menu, reconnect, and try again from the placed board. If the Gallery is busy, keep a local pixel reference so you can continue drawing.

Clothing design will not apply

Use a compatible clothing item base and a Tailoring Ticket. Some clothes can be worn but cannot accept a custom design.

Furniture design will not apply

Use a compatible furniture piece and a Paint Can. Dye-only items can change color but may reject custom artwork.

Painting Tools FAQ

Is there a Heartopia painting tool website?

This page includes a browser-based pixel planner for preparing references. The final design still needs to be recreated or adjusted inside Heartopia's in-game Drawing Board and Gallery flow.

Why my Drawing Pad doesn't work with Heartopia?

The in-game item is the Drawing Board. Confirm DG Level 14, Jean Morin's Letter, the 2,000 Gold purchase from Ka Ching, and that the board is placed in your home before opening the painting menu.

Can you share clothing designs on Heartopia?

Use Gallery sharing when your version exposes it. If not, send a screenshot or PNG reference so the other player can redraw it, then apply it with a Tailoring Ticket.

Can furniture designs be shared?

Yes as references or through available Gallery options, but applying the look still needs compatible furniture and a Paint Can.

What is the difference between Paint Can and Dye?

Dye changes a basic color. Paint Can applies one of your custom designs to compatible furniture.

Do I need the Drawing Board for clothing designs?

Yes. The Drawing Board is where you create or edit the design before applying it with a Tailoring Ticket.

Where should I go next?

Use the Gallery guide if you are stuck on View Gallery, the Decoration guide for room styling, or the town workbench guide for crafting and setup routes.
